Encouraging Other Believers

"We landed at Tyre, where our ship was to unload its cargo. Finding the disciples there, we stayed with them seven days. Through the Spirit they urged Paul not to go on to Jerusalem. But when our time was up, we left and continued on our way. All the disciples and their wives and children accompanied us out of the city, and there on the beach we knelt to pray. After saying good-by to each other, we went aboard the ship, and they returned home." (Acts 21:3-6)

Having just returned from Thailand last week where I was able to spend seven days with believers from that part of the world I appreciate this passage more than ever. During this leg of their journey Paul and his companions were greatly encouraged by the disciples in Tyre who were mutually encouraged as well. I love the image that comes to my mind when I read that the believers in Tyre knelt and prayed with Paul and the others on the beach before parting ways.  We need each other more than we often realize. We are significantly strengthened by one another. This is God's design. Don't miss the opportunity to lift others up. You may find yourself being strengthened in the process.

Today, as an act of worship, spend some time praying for another believer. If possible, take some time to meet with them in person or on the phone and pray together.
