Faithful to the End

"For two whole years Paul stayed there in his own rented house and welcomed all who came to see him. Boldly and without hindrance he preached the kingdom of God and taught about the Lord Jesus Christ." (Acts 28:30-31)

I love how the book of Acts ends. In this simple statement about Paul and his ministry we are reminded of Paul's primary purpose, his singular goal in life. He set out from Damascus with a new outlook on life, a fire had been lit within him that no man could extinguish. He testified of Jesus' life, death, burial, resurrection, and the work of the Holy Spirit in some of the most difficult places on earth. History tells us that he finished strong.

When I read this I am motivated to pray as with a renewed passion that the Spirit's fire within me will blaze like never before. May God truly be glorified in everything I say and do, to the very end. May we not stop short of the finish line.

Today, as an act of worship, let us come before God as honestly as we know how and lay every aspect of our lives before him in full surrender. May we be faithful to the very end wherever that end may be.
