Bless in a Manner Worthy of God

Today's full reading: 3 John 1:1-15

"Dear friend, you are faithful in what you are doing for the brothers, even though they are strangers to you. They have told the church about your love. You will do well to send them on their way in a manner worthy of God. It was for the sake of the Name that they went out, receiving no help from the pagans. We ought therefore to show hospitality to such men so that we may work together for the truth." (3 John 1:5-8 NIV)

It breaks my heart to think that I have missed golden opportunities to encourage and support bothers and sister who are serving the Lord who are strangers to me. John, the elder, is commending the recipients of this third short letter for the way they treated these brothers in the Lord.

Today, as an act of worship, pray for an opportunity to physically bless and encourage a Christian brother or sister. Thank God for the way He provides for us through others in the body of Christ, the Church.
