Love With Actions

Wednesday's full reading: 1 John 3:7-24

"This is how we know what love is: Jesus Christ laid down his life for us. And we ought to lay down our lives for our brothers. If anyone has material possessions and sees his brother in need but has no pity on him, how can the love of God be in him? Dear children, let us not love with words or tongue but with actions and in truth." (1 John 3:16-18 NIV)

What a great season of the year? As we make the 23 day gallop to Christmas there will inevitably be a whirlwind of activity on your every horizon and in the wake trailing behind you. Be careful not to allow the flurry of activities to blind you of the realities that you and I have brothers and sisters in great need. I pray that you and I will be faithful with our commitment to the Lord as managers of the resources entrusted to us - time, money, possessions, and abilities. None of it truly belongs to us; we just manage it for either our purposes or His.

Today, as an act of worship, join me by demonstrating love with actions. Be careful not to offer lip service to others (especially the poor) when you can actually give far more. Simply, follow the leading of the Holy Spirit and give of yourself at every available opportunity.
