The Prayers of the Saints

Today's full reading: Revelation 8

"Another angel, who had a golden censer, came and stood at the altar. He was given much incense to offer, with the prayers of all the saints, on the golden altar before the throne. The smoke of the incense, together with the prayers of the saints, went up before God from the angel's hand" (Revelation 8:3-4 NIV)

As the judgment, wrath, and tribulation are beginning to take place here in Revelation chapter eight, it is encouraging to recognize that the prayers of the saints are still heard. They are not without purpose. God allows us the opportunity to commune with Him through prayer, and we should take Him up on the offer.

Today, as an act of worship, consider the significance that God allows our prayers to have in fulfilling His purposes. We should pray without ceasing - involving God in every aspect of our life. And, we should pray with great expectation that God will answer our prayers as they agree with His will.
