Today's full reading: Revelation 1:1-20
"Blessed is the one who reads the words of this prophecy, and blessed are those who hear it and take to heart what is written in it, because the time is near." (Revelation 1:3 NIV)
The opening verses of Revelation compel us to proceed on in our reading, to weigh the application and meaning of each word carefully, and to prepare ourselves to meet the One who was, and is, and is to come!
As we press on in our reading and study of God's Word be mindful that John was not dreaming or nor did he make this stuff up. The scripture tells us that he was in the spirit when he heard the voice and turned and saw the Savior.
"When I saw him, I fell at his feet as though dead. Then he placed his right hand on me and said: "Do not be afraid. I am the First and the Last. I am the Living One; I was dead, and behold I am alive for ever and ever! And I hold the keys of death and Hades." (Revelation 1:17-18)
Jesus then instructed John saying, "Write, therefore, what you have seen, what is now and what will take place later." (Revelation 1:19)
Today, as an act of worship, remember who it is that we worship and honor. Jesus Christ, the promised one, the Messiah, has come and paid a sin debt he did not owe so that we can be eternally forgiven, cleansed, and stand in the presence of God Almighty as one worthy, yet not by works, but only by the blood of Jesus - the grace of God. Let's worship Him today!
