"But after the three and a half days a breath of life from God entered them, and they stood on their feet, and terror struck those who saw them. Then they heard a loud voice from heaven saying to them, "Come up here." And they went up to heaven in a cloud, while their enemies looked on. At that very hour there was a severe earthquake and a tenth of the city collapsed. Seven thousand people were killed in the earthquake, and the survivors were terrified and gave glory to the God of heaven." (Revelation 11:11-13 NIV)
What will it take to get your attention - that Christ is the true Lord of all? In the prophetic vision that John is witnessing and describing two witnesses have been sharing the the truth of God with all the people. Those who oppose them cannot overpower them. In fact, the witnesses have been given supernatural power to kill those who oppose them and their message. But, when the days of their testimony are complete they are killed in the street by the beast coming out of the abyss. Their bodies are left in the streets for three and a half days. Then "a breath of life from God" enters them and as you can imagine terror fills their enemies.
The enemies of God have made a terrible mistake. They have chosen the path of destruction. Their rebellion has separated them from the one true God. Following the anti-Christ has exposed their folly and now witnessing the scene of the two witnesses coming back to life and physically ascending into heaven in a cloud has left them utterly terrified. They are forced to recognize that Christ, not the anti-Christ, is the true Lord of all. Yet this realization is not one of repentance, but only a terrible acknowledgment that they are following a lie.Today, as an act of worship, praise the true Lord of all, Jesus Christ. Worship Him alone. "Praise Him for His acts of power; praise Him for His surpassing greatness." (Psalm 150:2) "Great is the Lord and mighty in power; His understanding has no limit." (Psalm 147:5) Remember, "The Lord sustains the humble but casts the wicked to the ground." (Psalm 147:6)
