Monday's full reading: 1 John 2:1-17
"We know that we have come to know him if we obey his commands. The man who says, "I know him," but does not do what he commands is a liar, and the truth is not in him. But if anyone obeys his word, God's love is truly made complete in him. This is how we know we are in him: Whoever claims to live in him must walk as Jesus did." (1 John 2:3-6 NIV)
I remember the first time a read the book In His Steps by Charles Sheldon. It blew me away. I was never much of a reader, but this story griped me in such a way that I could not seem to part with its pages. (You can read the entire book online for free at the link above.)
Anyway, the message of the book is easily summarized in the subtitle: What Would Jesus Do? It is a great question and one that warrants serious consideration and obedience. The reality that we all must face is, "Whoever claims to [be a Christian] must walk as Jesus did." (1 John 2:6)
Today, as an act of worship, commit your ways to the Lord. Make no decision without His approval. Ask the Lord what He wants you to do. Read His Word and obey it!
