Give Something Away

John 3:16 is quite possibly the most widely known and quoted scripture verse in the entire Bible. The line that jumps out at me today is, “He GAVE His one and only Son…”As a continuation of the previous devotion “Ownership Is The Issue”, I’d like to challenge each of us (myself included) to give something away. He gave his son; what can we give? This simple act will hopefully serve as a catalyst in each of our lives to help us become more habitually generous.

Here are some easy steps to consider:

1. #1) Take an item (something that is fairly significant to you or at least has significant value)
2. #2) Ask God to show you someone who would want it or need it.
3. #3) Give it away. (You can do this personally or anonymously.)

It is my prayer that by doing this we will develop a more keen awareness of the needs around us, a proactive attitude of how we can meet those needs, and a consistent habit of holding our possessions loosely.
