Hypocrisy runs rampant in many churches because, frankly, many Christians are hypocrites. Yes, Christians are sinners, but God desires that we “go and sin no more.” (John 8:11) The best way we can avoid living in habitual sin is to judge ourselves often.
Instead of quickly casting judgment on someone, based on the way they look, talk, act, or even smell, we should take a good long look in the mirror.
When the woman who was caught in adultery (a crime under Jewish law punishable by stoning to death) was brought, by the religious leaders, to Jesus He simply told them "All right, stone her. But let those who have never sinned throw the first stones!" (John 8:7)
The only judging that is necessary for a Christian to do is to judge ourselves and rebuke a fellow believer, which should be done in love. We should rebuke another Christian out of compassion to restore that believer to a close walk with God that may have been strained due to inappropriate sinful behavior.
All Christians need other believers to challenge us and keep us walking the straight and narrow. (Matthew 7:14) God wants us to live our lives as His witnesses. Other than a godly rebuking we should not judge others, but let God be the judge.

Today, as an act of worship, let’s take a long hard look in the mirror and judge ourselves before correcting a brother or sister in Christ. For further study read Matthew 7:1-6
