My Life Is A Reflection

In your opinion what does it take for a person to go to heaven? Many people have answered this question by saying a person must be good, or a person must go to church, or a person must give money to the church, or read the Bible, pray, worship… The list goes on and on. Entire books have been written to outline and define this very thing.

In Matthew 5:20, Jesus makes a very powerful statement to the people of His day by saying, “unless your righteousness surpasses that of the Pharisees and the teachers of the law, you will certainly not enter the kingdom of heaven.” A quick background check on the Pharisees will show you that they were an incredibly religious people who made it there life long goal to honor God by strictly and zealously observing every single pen stroke of the law.

One might ask this question, “How can my righteousness surpass that?” The answer is amazingly simple. You can’t, but Jesus can! Jesus’ was sinless and His righteousness along with His redeeming sacrifice is the only way we can enter the kingdom of heaven.

Our job is to surrender our lives to Jesus and allow Him to live in us and through us. Today let your life be a reflection of Him.
