Today full reading: 1 Corinthians 9:1-18
"On the contrary, we put up with anything rather than hinder the gospel of Christ." (1 Corinthians 9:12 NIV)
Sometimes it is hard to believe that Paul was a lay pastor. He had a incredible spiritual resume and a dynamic ministry, yet he chose to support himself along the way so as to further advance the gospel without becoming a burden on the young Church.
Today, as an act of worship, thank God for Paul and the many other lay ministers who have served the Lord and His Church faithfully through the years. We are a testimony of their willingness to make huge sacrifices at critical times throughout redemptive history.
