(Next Monday, September 29, we will begin Paul's letter to the believers in Philippi. It is going to be a great week in God's Word. Let's go!)
Today's full reading: Ephesians 1:1-23
"For this reason, ever since I heard about your faith in the Lord Jesus and your love for all the saints, I have not stopped giving thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers. I keep asking that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, may give you the Spirit of wisdom and revelation, so that you may know him better." (Ephesians 1:15-17 NIV)
Paul begins his letter with a reminder of the true spiritual blessings held by the Ephesian believers followed by a sincere prayer of thankfulness. He then begins to pray some specific requests over the believers: "[may] God give you the spirit of wisdom and revelation." (1:17) The phrase Paul identifies as his purpose for such a prayer is what I am focusing on in my prayers today: "that you may know him better." (1:17) Is that your desire today?
Today, as an act of worship, draw near to God with a sincere desire to know him better. Thank him for the spiritual blessings he has given you. Voice a prayer for other believers that come to your mind. Ask God to give them a Spirit of wisdom and revelation that they may know him better.
