"Do not be deceived: God cannot be mocked. A man reaps what he sows. The one who sows to please his sinful nature, from that nature will reap destruction; the one who sows to please the Spirit, from the Spirit will reap eternal life. Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up." (Galatians 6:7-10 NIV)
Today we finish Paul's letter to the Christians in Galatia. Paul's reminder that God will not be mocked and a man will reap what he sows, is such a timely word in my life. Phil Waldrep is a guest speaker at my church today. The primary focus of his messages for this time at our church is on the subject of "Parenting Prodigals" or, rather, what to do if your children walk away from the faith.
I cannot imagine any sane human being saying to themselves, "I think I want to go ruin my life today!" Yet, a sad commentary has been written on the lives of many Christian teenagers who have chosen to compromise their integrity and their faith on the altar of collegiate social networking. Don't get me wrong, I love the feeling of being a popular person, but I hope and pray that by the grace of God I will never sacrifice integrity and faith by coveting such fame.
Today, as an act of worship, praise God for the timeliness of his word. Thank God for friends who genuinely care about you for who you are. Join me in asking the Lord for help to be a better friend.
