Today's full reading: Ephesians4:17-32
"Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen." (Ephesians 4:29 NIV)
When we give our lives to Jesus Christ our language must be purified. It is not enough just to stop sinning by cutting out all unwholesome talk; we must specifically use our words to build others up, strengthening them and help them. Consider your words carefully at all times. This is necessary when dealing with those inside and outside the church. What we say about other Christians and the Church as a whole can go a long way in building someone's faith or tearing it down.
Today, as an act of worship, thank God for giving you a fresh start, a new day. Thank him for the influence he has giving you in the lives of other Christians and non-Christians. Ask him to give you wisdom to remove all unwholesome talk from your conversations and in its place fill it with authentic words of affirmation and edification.
