The Word of God and The Throne of Grace

Today's full reading: Hebrews 4:1-16
For the word of God is living and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart. Nothing in all creation is hidden from God's sight. Everything is uncovered and laid bare before the eyes of him to whom we must give account.

Therefore, since we have a great high priest who has gone through the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold firmly to the faith we profess. For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who has been tempted in every way, just as we are—yet was without sin. Let us then approach the throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.

- Hebrews 4:12-16 NIV
These are perhaps my favorite verses in the book of Hebrews. They not only remind me of the significance, power, and eternal nature of the Word of God, but also they speak of our Great High Priest and King - Jesus Christ.

Today, as an act of worship, approach the throne of grace with confidence as you praise God for his eternal Word. Spend time thanking Jesus for being our priest - the mediator between God and man.
