Today's full reading: Revelation 16
"The fourth angel poured out his bowl on the sun, and the sun was given power to scorch people with fire. They were seared by the intense heat and they cursed the name of God, who had control over these plagues, but they refused to repent and glorify Him." (Revelation 16:8-9 NIV)
Even on Christmas day when, in much of the world in 2008, we celebrate the coming of the Christ child, our readings remind us of God's plan that we glorify Him in and through our lives. John has seen the Revelation that in the last days God's wrath will be poured out on those who do not repent. They have refused to worship God time and time again, and even as His wrath is being poured out, the Bible says, "they refused to repent and glorify Him" (Revelation 16:9).
Today, as an act of worship, may we follow the example of the shepherds and wise men; worship the King of Kings, Lord of Lords, Jesus Christ, the promised One. In His coming to earth, His holy life, and His sacrificial death, He paid the debt of sin that is ours. Praise and worship Him today!
Merry Christmas!!
