Leviticus 11:1-12:8 ~ Mark 5:21-43 ~ Psalm 38:1-22 ~ Proverbs 10:8-9
Psalm 38 is a petition for mercy from a sinful worshiper who is guilty and in agony. The whole psalm is gut wrenching and quite stirring to read and personalize. The psalmist, David, realizes the significance of his sinfulness and owns up to it fully before God. He knows there are direct repercussions for disobeying God, and part of those effects are often physical sufferings. Here's how he words it...
3 Because of your wrath there is no health in my body;
my bones have no soundness because of my sin.4 My guilt has overwhelmed me
like a burden too heavy to bear.5 My wounds fester and are loathsome
Psalm 38:3-5
because of my sinful folly.
Today, as an act of worship, come clean before God recognizing your need for forgiveness and grace. Own up to your sin, and lean on His amazing grace.
