Today's full One Year Bible readings:
Numbers 32:1-33:39 ~ Luke 4:31-5:11 ~ Psalm 64:1-10 ~ Proverbs 11:22
Psalm 64 begins with, "Hear me, O God, as I voice my complaint..." This should immediately silence the common thought that all complaining is sinful; it clearly is not! In fact, there is an acceptable form of complaining which is demonstrated even in worship - speaking out against injustice and wickedness.
As if this simple truth weren't enough to ponder, the conclusion of Psalm 64 sheds even more light by reminding the worshiper that "All mankind will fear; they will proclaim the works of God and ponder what he has done." (64:9)
God will respond to prayers and "complaints" of His people provided that they are offered in a way that is according to His character and will.
Today, as an act of worship, "Let the righteous rejoice in the LORD and take refuge in him; let all the upright in heart praise him!" (Psalm 64:10)
