Better Than Life (Psalm 63)

Today's full One Year Bible readings:
Numbers 30:1-31:54 ~ Luke 4:1-30 ~ Psalm 63:1-11 ~ Proverbs 11:20-21

Psalm 63 echos the heart of a worshiper resounding from the parched landscape of a weary land saying, "my soul thirsts for You, my body longs for You." (63:1) Especially when it seems that all is lost and we have nothing left with nowhere else to turn, I am comforted in knowing that the love of God is better than life itself. He is more than enough for me.

"1 O God, you are my God, earnestly I seek you; my soul thirsts for you, my body longs for you, in a dry and weary land where there is no water.  2 I have seen you in the sanctuary and beheld your power and your glory.  3 Because your love is better than life, my lips will glorify you. 4 I will praise you as long as I live, and in your name I will lift up my hands.  5 My soul will be satisfied as with the richest of foods; with singing lips my mouth will praise you." (Psalm 63:1-5)

Today, as an act of worship, may these words be true of us. May we earnestly seek...thirst...long...see...behold...praise...lift up...and be completely satisfied in the love of God - Jesus Christ!
