Deuteronomy 16:1-17:20 ~ Luke 9:7-27 ~ Psalm 72:1-20 ~ Proverbs 12:8-9
Psalm 72 is a psalm either by Solomon or for Solomon by his father, King David. As a whole, it is a psalm asking for the Lords blessing on heirs of David's line. Specifically, this psalm speaks to the need for justice and wisdom in ruling the people of God, Israel.
We can glean much of God's heart and character in governing simply by noting verse 12-14.
12 For he will deliver the needy who cry out,
the afflicted who have no one to help.13 He will take pity on the weak and the needy
and save the needy from death.14 He will rescue them from oppression and violence,
Psalm 72:12-14
for precious is their blood in his sight.
Today, as an act of worship, speak up for those who are otherwise powerless to do so. God loves them just as much as he loves you and me.
