The Way Out (Psalm 51)

Today's One Year Bible readings:
Numbers 10:1-11:23 ~ Mark 14:1-21 ~ Psalm 51:1-19 ~ Proverbs 10:31-32

Psalm 51 shines light on the path out of darkness - a path each of us travel at one time or another. This psalm was written in the context of King David's battle with the sins of pride, adultery, and murder. Regardless of the particular sins you struggle with, the path out is still the same - honest confession and repentance.

9 Hide your face from my sins
and blot out all my iniquity.

10 Create in me a pure heart, O God,
and renew a steadfast spirit within me.

11 Do not cast me from your presence
or take your Holy Spirit from me.

12 Restore to me the joy of your salvation
and grant me a willing spirit, to sustain me.

13 Then I will teach transgressors your ways,
and sinners will turn back to you.

Psalm 51:9-13

Today, as an act of worship, turn away from all willful sins and trust Christ to provide for your needs. He is more than enough.

"No temptation has seized you except what is common to man. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can stand up under it." (1 Corinthians 10:13)

Here's a great song called "Restore To Me" from the Glory Revealed project. (I'm not so sure about the video - but it looks interesting.)
