Who Are You Trusting In? (Psalm 49)

Today's full One Year Bible readings:
Numbers 6:1-7:89 ~ Mark 12:38-13:13 ~ Psalm 49:1-20 ~ Proverbs 10:27-28

Psalm 49 describes the life and fate of those who place their trust in themselves and the things of this world. It is a riveting and devastating picture to imagine. The world, especially the western world, is on a hunt - searching for significance - and totally consumed with fame, riches, and pleasure. The reality of this sad commentary is that life is totally pointless, meaningless, and worthless aside from the glory of Jesus Christ. The things of this world will not endure.

12 But man, despite his riches, does not endure;
he is like the beasts that perish.

13
This is the fate of those who trust in themselves,
and of their followers, who approve their sayings.

Psalm 49:12-13

Today, as an act of worship, give honor to Jesus Christ through your lifestyle - your work, play, and relationships. Keep eternity in your gaze.
