Today's full reading: Galatians 3:23-4:31
"You are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus, for all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ. There is neither Jew nor Greek, slave nor free, male nor female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus." (Galatians 3:26-28 NIV)
The powerful words of Galatians 2:20 "I am crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me" are still stirring my heart as Paul shares this vivid word picture: "you have clothed yourselves with Christ." (Galatians 3:27). WOW! Now there's a thought!
Paul ends the thought in Galatians 2:20 by explaining that Christ lives in us and we should be living by faith. He takes it a step further in Galatians 3:27 by giving us this picture of putting on Christ. Imagine wearing Christ as your number one all-purpose piece of clothing. Imagine for a moment what it would be like if Jesus Christ was so visible in your life that you could not hide it from anyone even if you tried. Imagine what your life would look like if you were 100% sold out to Christ.
Please forgive me for posing such personal questions. I remember when I was asked the following question. It struck me as dreadfully personal, but ultimately it made a profound impact in my life. Keep in mind you are the only one who can answer this truthfully: Are you willing to go anywhere, and do anything, at anytime, no matter what the cost for the glory of Jesus Christ? I hope you will take a few minutes and really consider what the Lord is asking you to do with your life - today and in the future.
Today, as an act of worship, praise God for his amazing plan for each of our lives. I honestly believe that he will never tell us to do something that he will not also help us accomplish. Surrender to his will today as you dress yourself with Christ.
