Numbers 15:17-16:40 ~ Mark 15:1-47 ~ Psalm 54:1-7 ~ Proverbs 11:5-6
Psalm 54 is a powerful expression of God-centered salvation. The worshiper is reminded how David was betrayed and persecuted by the Ziphites, yet he called upon God to save him. This Psalm is especially suited for worship in the persecuted church, but even those not experiencing physical persecution can be drawn into a greater love of God by identifying with the work of God on behalf of those who suffer daily for the Gospel!
1 Save me, O God, by your name;
vindicate me by your might.2 Hear my prayer, O God;
listen to the words of my mouth.3 Strangers are attacking me;
ruthless men seek my life—
men without regard for God.
Selah4 Surely God is my help;
the Lord is the one who sustains me.5 Let evil recoil on those who slander me;
in your faithfulness destroy them.6 I will sacrifice a freewill offering to you;
I will praise your name, O LORD,
for it is good.7 For he has delivered me from all my troubles,
and my eyes have looked in triumph on my foes.
Today, as an act of worship, turn to the LORD for salvation and rescue from your enemies. Pray for those who are being persecuted for the Gospel. Pray that they will be bold in their witness no matter what earthly price they are forced to pay. Pray in faith and remember He is "Mighty to Save".
