Deuteronomy 11:1-12:32 ~ Luke 8:22-39 ~ Psalm 70:1-5 ~ Proverbs 12:4
If there was ever a quick desperate outcry for the deliverance of the Lord it is found neatly sealed in the five short verses of Psalm 70. Here are those verses in their entirety...
1 Hasten, O God, to save me;
O LORD, come quickly to help me.2 May those who seek my life
be put to shame and confusion;
may all who desire my ruin
be turned back in disgrace.3 May those who say to me, "Aha! Aha!"
turn back because of their shame.4 But may all who seek you
rejoice and be glad in you;
may those who love your salvation always say,
"Let God be exalted!"5 Yet I am poor and needy;
come quickly to me, O God.
You are my help and my deliverer;
O LORD, do not delay.
It has been wisely said that we live in and live with the Psalms. As I read these words I find myself identifying more and more with the plight of their God-inspired human author. He was powerless on his own and yet mustered the faith to seek the Lord's protection.
O, how we should do the same!
Today, as an act of worship, call upon the Lord. No matter what you are going through He is more than enough. Remember: the more hopeless it seems the more glorious His appearing will be!
